Antelope Canyon
Located on Navajo Tribal land near Page, Arizona, Antelope Canyon is an amazing slot canyon with sculpted walls polished by wind, water and time. I was fortunate to visit for the first time in 1996 and annually for several years afterward. Those were the days when I literally had the place to myself. I could explore and photograph for hours with only the occasional other person wandering by. The one who introduced me to Antelope Canyon presented it as a natural cathedral and in those days it truely was. These days it is difficult not only to be alone there, but even to accomplish serious photography due to the pressing crowds. It remains a special place to me, however, as the first stop on my long and continuing journey of exploring the desert southwest.
